Shopping Malls Join City-Wide Call for Prom Donations

It takes a large network of people passionate about helping youth to stock the annual Prom Boutique with fashionable formal wear for the more than 500 teens who visit each year. This year, New Circles has partnered with a number of local businesses, as well as Oxford Properties and Cadillac Fairview, who are promoting the Boutique through Scarborough Town Centre, Yorkdale Shopping Centre and Fairview Mall.

“We’re lucky to have many helping hands to make the Prom Boutique a success year after year,” said Poppy Harpula, New Circles’ Manager of Partnerships and Special Initiatives. “This is the tenth year of running the Boutique, and we have even more support, through our city-wide drop-off partners and the shopping centres who are reaching out to their customers to help give back. Partnering with local businesses helps us to mobilize even more people to get involved, and ensure all youth have the opportunity to attend this special event.”

Shoppers can drop off donations of contemporary prom fashions at Yorkdale’s prom season kick-off event in Centre Court from March 10-19, and at Guest Services at Scarborough Town Centre (March 14-April 22), where they can enter to win $500 in STC gift cards. New or gently-worn dresses, slim-cut suits, shirts and pants, shoes, accessories (including jewelry and handbags) and new makeup are all gratefully accepted.

“We believe in the importance of working with our community partners for initiatives like the Prom Boutique,” said Jai Lee, Scarborough Town Centre Marketing Director. “This is an opportunity for our shoppers to learn more and support youth to #BloomWithConfidence. Fashion helps to define your character, and we hope that this effort can make a difference in the Scarborough community.”

In addition to these partners, our city-wide Prom Boutique drop-off locations are also collecting donations. Thank you to Henkaa, Gibson’s Cleaners, Smoke + Ash, Bosley Real Estate, Liberty Market, and Flair Trade Consignments for helping out!
